The Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Office provides a fresh and modern marriage room for your special day, especially if you prefer a simple 'no fuss' ceremony. As with all marriages occurring in Australia, a Notice of Intended Marriage needs to be lodged, together with production of documentation and payment of the prescribed fee. Lodgement of the Notice is accepted at our office from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm. Please refer to our section on Marriage Requirements for more information.
Marriages are performed weekdays (except public holidays) at our office at Chesser House between 10am & 4:30pm. The ceremony takes approximately 10 -15 minutes, with ample opportunity to take photos and record the event from beginning to end. Unfortunately, the use of confetti, rice and rose petals is not permitted within the building or on the pavement area outside.
There are no set dress standards for our ceremonies, so you can choose to arrive casually dressed or in the full wedding attire. If you have any special requirements, such as specific music you would like to have played, our Marriage Celebrants are more than happy to help you. We have seating for up to 30 guests and plenty of space for additional guests to stand.
On the day of the wedding, the bride and groom are requested to arrive approximately 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time in order to meet with their Celebrant. This is to ensure there is sufficient time to go over any last minute details and to finalise official marriage declarations and documentation. The couple are also required to bring two witnesses with them over the age of eighteen years.
If an interpreter is required for the ceremony, the couple should arrange this prior to the wedding date. Please note: If a friend or family member is to be the interpreter, they cannot also be a witness to the wedding.
